Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Launched in Jammu & Kashmir

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Jammu & Kashmir has been launched by CM Mehbooba Mufti and Petroleum Minister Mr. Dharmender Pradhan on 28 Sep 2016. This scheme was announced at the Zoravar Singh auditorium in Jammu.

According to this scheme free LPG connections will be given to the women of Jammu and Kashmir. First one lakh LPG connections will be provided within 15 days while another 30 lakh connection will be provided in coming months.

This scheme is started by the central government to provide LPG connections to the rural areas people. Basically this scheme is started for the below poverty line(BPL) consumers.

Objective of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The main objective of this scheme is to avoid the use of firewood which will make the country pollution free. Other major objectives are :
• To save the health of women and children.
• To make smoke-free state.
• To provide clean cooking food.
• Smoke less-villages

Under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana a subsidy of Rs 1600 will be provided by the government to the beneficiaries. This scheme will help the poor people especially the women. This is assured by chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir that in 15 days one lakh connections will be provided. She also ensured women’s empowerment , especially rural areas, the connections will be issued in the name of women in the family.
